RIOT RHYTHM has never looked so good! I have always been immensely proud of this movie, and the 4K remaster has realized the vision better than ever before!

The Story: Riot Rhythm is the first movie I created after moving to the Pacific Northwest to "become a filmmaker" in 2010. I had dropped out of a traditional university program and determined my own life. I made a music video because I had no audio equipment and wanted to work within my means. I was learning After Effects, which inspired the idea to have dance moves leave their performers and interact in a dance battle of shadow attacks. The song was selected to fit the idea, with no connection to the band or hope of them acknowledging it. I wanted to solidify a friendship with people I had met the summer before while living in my van looking for the next place to call home, so I took my storyboard down to Olympia for a weekend. I got everyone on board and we shot most of the video. I went home to Seattle and did not have all the pieces I needed, so two weeks later I went back for re-shoots. I got into a flow editing, learning Final Cut X for the first time. I decided not to go back to a job I hated and stayed for days editing the movie. I finished it just in time for a backyard screening of student films projected onto a sheet hanging from a barn. We roasted road kill dear and had an event, the movie was a star. We watched Mulholland drive and all slept in the yard. Best overall filmmaking experience I've ever had.
