Enchantments
Year wait for the Enchantments is finally over
Long ago, my friend Pat B. showed me some photos on his phone that absolutely blew my mind. I did not know it was possible to go to a place with wild goats everywhere and epic rock climbing over alpine lakes. I also did not know that 'permits' be a thing. It took me some time to get in line with applying during the special-time-window, and, years after I started, like my friend Pat, I finally got to go in on someone else's lottery pass win. I shot three rolls of film up in those mountains - and I recently got them developed at the local photography shop. This is my first time getting to scan my negatives with my own scanner and I am loving the control when processing directly from the negative. Only I have the patience to scan an image 2-5 times to get all the information I want for developing the final artwork, its better than money can buy. Below are posted screen-captures taken while scanning.
Color
The new 'colorize' option has caught my attention on this series, it feels better than color, like the in-painting done by artists before color film technology was developed.
The image will always be a representation, and a magical realism is more honest and can be a better representation of an actual place and feeling.
